Yeah, because him getting a smaller car is going to change how much fuel costs.

16 gallons in a small car getting 30mpg at $4.59 is $73.75.

16 gallons in a large less fuel efficient car getting 15mpg at $4.59 is still going to be the same $73.75.

Don't assume that because people are paying a lot for fuel that they're driving huge SUVs. Plenty of small cars have 16 gallon fuel cells.

I'm visiting Rome right now and gas is $9.00/gallon ... we still have it pretty good, even at $4.59... problem is we have a very wasteful society because people ignored efficiency in vehicles and many other things.

So the Gov gave out money to dump back into your tank which goes into the pockets of the members of the Gov.

How quaint.

eddo, your a dumbass

if i drive 90 miles a week, ill only spend 221.25 a week in a small car, whereas in a bigger car, ill spend 442.50 in the large vehicle

it does matter.

@eddo219

well... if you actually look farther then just what you pay at the pump. It's far better to get a smaller more fuel efficient car.

going from 15 to 30mpg and still driving to the same places and same miles each day means you save 50% of your fuel costs for the year. because you only have to fuel up half as often.

by your logic, why don't we just put 5 gallon tanks in every thing?

Hey, Those horns and that stupid looking bell are causing drag, no wonder you get crappy MPG! I'm not happy with gas prices either, who is? But dressing your car up and being annoying with noise isn't the answer. Be mature adults.

it's all about how much each country taxes/subsidizes the price of gas. don't ever forget that.

Well i just put my stimuli into public transit baby..... of course it takes me two to three hours to get around the bay but it only costs me 7$$ if people would get on the ball w/ public transit and not make it transient service more people would ride it... but frankly sitting next to a person who wet them-self is a little gross...but it is nice to not spend 400+ on gas 40+ on insurance & 400+on fixing a car. and honestly im not doing anything to the air a bus is soo pollutant that it is scary but hell.. the new flat screen is nice....

In Australia we're paying $US6.01 per gallon on a good day.

It goes up and down in weekly cycles so when the price does rise we don't notice it as much.

There was a huge out cry when our fuel prices rose to the amount it is over in the US. The government said a lot of things. An fuel prices dropped for a few months but then crept up again and haven't gone down again since.

The affect it has on the car industry here is obvious though. Small car prices seem to stay the same even though they depreciate in value, large car sales have plummeted much like they are now in the US. Car manufacturing plants here are looking at closing up costing jobs. Australia primarily produces large cars with 6 or 8 cylinder engines and they aren't selling anymore.

I sold my car and got a scooter. I went from spending $50 a week on petrol to $3.

Best saving I've ever made to my pocket and the environment.

High gas prices are are because of a devalued dollar, not because of Bush, Cheney and their Saudi bed buddies.

pfft, come back when its over $8 a gallon like here in New Zealand

9.8$/gallon where I live (europe)

I still find it strange the world's largest energy consuming nation is paying a pretty decent price at the pump compared to other western nations....

8$/Gallon in Sweden

Australia is up around $9

you know... even though it might make a difference to buy a new car, it's more about being able to afford a new car. Gas prices might such, but income sucks more. It's easier to come up with an extra 80 a month for gas than 200 for a car.

Jason said...

Only reason its more expensive outside the U.S. is because they tag on other taxes. While America has that seperately...you dumbasses...

Whitefael said...

To those saying to get a smaller car, sometimes it's not possible. Some people have to have larger vehicles for their jobs. You can't very well tow a trailer if you're driving a Prius.

Eddo219 said...

Nate,

No one mentioned anything about how far you could drive you dumb shit, just that he should buy a car to OMG SAVE ON GAS

Russ said...

eddo219, try a little harder. you're still not getting it. smaller cars use less fuel. recently with gas prices so high, the prius is less expensive to own than just about any other car out there. and its not because it has a smaller tank, its because it's more EFFICIENT. that's the word to google.

Check out Permaculture.com to learn how to make alcohol for less than $1.00 a gallon! All fuel-injected cars can run on 50% alcohol!!! Save $3.00+ a gallon and save the environment! This site has all the information you need and debunks the myths the oil companies are spreading about ethanol, like food versus fuel. Very important site.
